Preliminary Task

As part of my Foundation project I had to do a Preliminary task which involved using a camera and actually getting the hang of how it works. I worked in a team of three people we all had a role which we had to play I and Manzy were the actors and Gagandeep was the camerawoman. The Preliminary task had to include a shot reverse shot and match on action shot which is basically when the camera is focused on the actor from a side view showing the actor slowly get up then it cuts to a front view of the actor standing. We also had to include the 180 rule which shows the different angles of the actors such as over the shoulder shot and medium shot. It means you stay within 180 degrees of the parallel axis of the actors.
The scene was bascially a close up of a young man on the phone who is waiting for a package to arrive. There is a close up of the door handle being opened and the lady walks in carrying a package which is wrapped. The contents of the package is not revealed when the lady hands it over the man is really nervous. The lady gives him a threat "if you don't give it to the right person you will have to face the consequences and you know what that is DEATH" she makes an hand gesture which implies his neck being slit. She gives him a firm hand shake which implies that se is more over powering than him in status and as a person. A match in action shot is used for this to give it the right effect to give it a real feel and to suggest continuity.
It was a great way to explore the different angles and how to actually use the camera so it does not give us any problems for our main project.
